This image was captured in the Dupont State Forest in Western North Carolina. The stream was super shallow and flowing fast over the flat, rocky streambed.
I put the camera right down near the surface of the water (I actually had to watch out to avoid water streaming into the lens) to catch the reflections of the sky and the green, yellow and orange leaves.
Sometimes I shoot some video when I go out with my camera to gather images. Usually, something will catch my eye and I'll just stop, set up the camera and let it run to capture something still and meditative. In this case, watching the video helped me remember how the light and reflections moved across the water's surface, something I tried to re-create when choosing and finalizing the photographic image.
The music accompanying the video is me playing the hammered dulcimer— a Swedish Walking Tune I learned from Ken Kolodner and recorded on my CD (...stopping to look)
Sit back for a minute or two to relax and watch the water.
